Podcasts

A great way to gain information and understanding is through podcasts!

If you've never experienced a podcast, it's time to jump on the bandwagon. Anything can be found in the podcast world, from minimalism to true-crime. Another great way to use podcasts is to have discussions about topics that can be absorbed in the classroom. Turning a topic of interest into a podcast shares information with the rest of the world that they may not be aware of, and can come in handy in the classroom.

Below are some examples of podcast websites where you can create your own.

The first thing that attracted me to Anchor was the fact that it is 100% free. Free uploads, free podcasting, free free free. After a little research you learn that the reason Anchor can afford this is that they were purchased by Spotify, and they have rights to your content. Now, those rights don't mean you don't own your content, but it does mean that Anchor has rights to use your content how they please.

One of the most popular ways to get your podcast out there, that is if you're wanting followers, is to use Soundcloud. Soundcloud is one of the biggest names in podcasting on the internet, and they have pretty affordable plans if you're looking to podcast full time. You can't monetize with their basic plan, but they connect to other streaming services and it is very user friendly.

One site I've used in the past for college assignments was Podbean. In fact, I still have one 'episode' on their website about Carol Simpson that I made in April of 2020 for my LSSL work. It's such an easy program, and can even be easily used through their mobile app. They offer free accounts that have 5 free hours of uploads, and their basic plans are affordable, starting at $9 a month.

My classmate and I made a podcast about our favorite Library Scandals. To listen to it, click the link below:

Hi Whyttnee,

My partner and I also used Anchor for our podcast. As we explored this resource, we realized it was user friendly with great basic features. Being able to add background music is a little plus to this site. I do feel it would be great if Anchor could offer any type of editing tools. On another note, I loved The Library Scandals!
