Bishop, N. (2010). Lizards. Scholastic Nonfiction.
Summary
Anywhere from 1-4 pages spreads show the beautiful world of lizards in Nic Bishop's book, Lizards. Each picture is close enough to show detail upon detail, and the rest of the spread includes facts and information about lizards. Just another in Bishop's collection of photo information about creatures, Lizards provides readers with a close up view of the lifespan of these animals. Perfect for any student interested in the crawling creature, Lizards is a great addition to any nonfiction of a library.
A Teacher's Perspective
I think my favorite part of the book is the photos. I was very pleased with the fold out spread of a lizard in motion, and the close ups seemed so detailed, it's as if the lizard would jump right off the page. The book almost celebrates the creatures, more than just informs about them, and the photography really brings them to life.
I would highly recommend this for a younger grade science teacher who is wanting students to do reports on animals, as it is extremely informative, but also very visual.
