Keating, J. (2019). Gross as a Snot Otter. Knopf.

Summary

Sometimes the grossest creatures are the most interesting. In this informational picture/illustration book about slimy, gooey, gross creatures, Jess Keating helps readers understand facts and information about things they might not even know existed. Like the cover suggests, this is where children come to discover the world's "most disgusting animals"--and everything about them. With plenty to uncover, Gross as a Snot Otter will not disappoint.

A Teacher's Perspective

Well...where to start? Did I know there was even such a thing as a 'snot otter'?--absolutely not. Do I now? ABSOLUTELY. I love Jess Keating's conversational style when it comes to writing about creatures that people normally ignore, or have no idea even exist. The pictures and illustrations help, in their way, to illuminate the information given.

This book would make a great addition to the science classroom for younger children, to a nonfiction section of a library, or to a personal collection of any boy or girl that enjoys the ooey gooey creatures the world offers.
