Leff, C. (2019). Celebrate your body 2. Rockingridge
Summary
This book about puberty for teens and tween girls takes difficult and often non-discussed topics head on. From learning about the shape of your body, to choosing the right friends, this book will help girls navigate the ins and outs of what it means to be in a female body. Some of the other topics discussed are pads/tampons, bras, romance, self-confidence, coping mechanisms, and much more.
A Teacher's Perspective
The facts and information in this book will delete the uncomfortable opinions of any unsolicited advice about ones' body or the situations faced by teen girls. There were some parts that seemed as if the author's did not want to broach the topics too deeply, such as gender and sexuality, but the sections about self care and social networks are very useful and relevant to teenage and pre-teen girls. This book explores some of the same topics as book one, some more in depth than others, but tends to stay objective and informative. It is really good for students who may not have someone at home to talk to about these situations.
