Cartoons and Comics

Fotojet is a comic subscription site. They do have a 7 day free trial, but it's the kind that makes you sign up with payment information from the beginning, and will auto-draft after a few days. If you're not a fan, don't forget to cancel your subscription before it charges you. The downside to Fotojet is that it was hard to find the comic strip option, but once it's found, it's easily navigable, especially if you're familiar with Canva. It's very similar to Canva, but with less options, and doesn't offer a free teacher account like Canva does. It does have easily accessed templates. Below you will find the comic I made with Fotojet based on a popular TikTok sound:

Pixton was a LOT of fun. They have free accounts and navigating the characters and backgrounds is very user friendly. I really love that each character can be copied, manipulated, and customized. Users can create entire scenes, make the characters interact, and speech bubbles are automatically created when text is inserted. Below is another toon I made about a fun TikTok Trend (and old Starburst commercial):

Making and maintaining an account on MakeBeliefs Comix is free, and it is required to manipulate the comic strip. It's a little confusing at first, but all of the buttons required to move objects and customize are very kid friendly. This would be a great starter point for kids who are just starting into making comics. Below is another TikTok themed example I made with this site. I will say, however, that I prefer other more customizable sites.

Overall, comics are really fun to make. I think I'll use them to advertise for the yearbook staff. Our postermaker in the library can enlarge them and make them accessible to all of our students, and even perhaps pique their interest in making their own!

I also had a little bit of trouble understanding how to navigate and use all the features of MakeBeliefs Comix. However, soon I realized that I just had to play with it for a little bit to get the hang of it. I love how you incorporated TikTok into your comics.. It will be a hit among our students. I really enjoyed this module. Thank you for sharing your insight on Pixton, FotoJet, and MakeBeliefs Comix.
